Job: Specification Writer
The Specification Writer is responsible for the UI specifications for the applications developed in the department. The Specification Writer is involved from the concept phase, through the design and implementation, to testing and market launch. The position is with the Application Software Development organization in RTP (Research Triangle Park), North Carolina, USA. The role is part of the UI (User Interface) Design team, which is part of the global organization responsible for designing the user experience of the Sony Ericsson GSM and UMTS phones
The position includes the responsibilities of:
- Documenting UI design in specifications (primarily AMMIs - a detailed spec of the UI)
- Maintaining the UI specifications
- Addressing reported design and software issues independently, analyzing, propose solutions, and document the resolved design
- Gathering and analyzing requirements on UI specifications from stakeholders
- Holding reviews of specifications
Minimum Education: BSEE, BSCE, or BSCS
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Training in technical writing, information design, communication, or equivalent.
- At least 2 year relevant experience of technical writing, information design, communication, or equivalent
- Problem setting and solving skills
- Detail oriented
Also desirable experience or education in any of the following areas:
- Foreign languages
- International experiences
- Interaction design, human computer interaction, usability, multimedia, software design, etc
- Desktop publishing
Competencies:
Performs well in a team environment, and independently. Demonstrates flexibility, commitment, and strong communication skills in English (both written and oral).
